Jovana is an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and she got a BA in Political science from the Department of Social Work and Social Policy at the Faculty of Political science at the University of Belgrade, Europe.
She is a Master of social work graduate, too, with a Master’s social worker title also gained at the Faculty of Political science.
She mastered with the highest grade on the topic of ´´Participation of children under 10 years of age in divorce and custody cases in social services institution in Serbia´´ where she performed thorough exploratory research on how children´s right to participate in every aspect that affects a child is being practiced in disputes over the exercise of parental rights (divorce cases).
This means that the topic she explored is an insufficiently investigated phenomenon, and you can find just a few in the whole world.
Jovana is also a Certified Mediator which means she is qualified in conflict resolution.
She is trained and experienced in working with children and families with diversified needs and positions at Family and child protective services, which was her main preoccupation. These families were mostly in the situation of:
- disrupted/disordered or conflicted family relations,
- need for intervention due to domestic violence,
- protection of victims of domestic violence
- protection and child care of children affected by neglect and abuse
- divorce, co-parenting and custody cases,
- and youth in conflict with the law.
But she is also focused on older adults’ protection, and this is her field of experience at Older adults’ protective service, but an interest as well. She is especially interested in discriminatory treatment or practices, neglect, and negligence of the older adult population.
She is a firm believer in gender equality, and she advocates for it. Considering no country in the world has achieved full gender equality between women and men, Jovana sees this as an important phenomenon and topic for each of us.
